Netherlands Takes Control of Chinese-Owned Chipmaker Nexperia
The Dutch government has taken control of Nexperia, citing a "threat" to Europe's semiconductor capabilities.
Nexperia was acquired by Chinese contract manufacturing giant Wingtech Technology in 2018.
Reason for Takeover
The country's Ministry of Economic Affairs invoked the Goods Availability Act for the first time, pointing to "serious governance shortcomings" at Nexperia.

- Decisions made at Nexperia can now be blocked or reversed by the Dutch government if deemed "harmful" to the company or its future.
