Glenn Close shared, “I don't want to repeat myself because I think I'd be really bored.” Despite the many iconic women who have collaborated on Ryan Murphy projects, it’s surprising that she hadn’t until now. This is changing with Hulu’s All’s Fair.
Close plays Dina, a powerful lawyer in an all-female firm with co-stars including Kim Kardashian, Sarah Paulson, Niecy Nash, and Naomi Watts. She admits, “I was intimidated until I started to understand the tone. And once I understood the tone, then it became really fun.”
Bringing together such energy and experience, Close notes, “To bring all that energy...and all that experience together is bound to create something really unique.” This collaboration also fostered deep connections among the cast:
“This group of women, they’ll be my friends for the rest of my life.”
Her continued success stems from her refusal to repeat herself creatively. She explained, “I’m basically up for anything as long as it represents a new exploration.”
Close will next appear in Rian Johnson’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, which premieres the same week as All’s Fair. She expressed surprise about this coincidence: “I got two Ryans in the same week. It was like, what?”
The interview was edited and condensed for publication. Close’s first movie many from her generation remember is 101 Dalmatians, recalling, “I was 12 years old and my father had rented Fatal Attraction, and I watched it.”
Author’s summary: Glenn Close embraces new creative challenges, forming lasting bonds with fellow actors while avoiding repetition to keep her roles fresh and exciting.
