Everton are considering reigniting their interest in Franculino after David Moyes’ recent statements and the club’s ongoing struggle to find consistent goal scorers. The lack of attacking edge has become a pressing issue this season, especially with the underwhelming performances of Thierno Barry and Beto in the Premier League.
Barry, who featured in Everton’s recent 1–1 draw away at Sunderland, missed a clear chance from close range and struggled to make an impact throughout the match. His difficulties have only emphasized Everton’s need to strengthen their strike force during the winter transfer window.
Despite having signed Barry to solve their scoring problems, the Toffees continue to drop points, including against two of the newly-promoted teams. The club’s struggles to find reliable goal output date back to last season, making a new forward acquisition a top priority in January.
“Goals make the difference and can change how you feel as a manager. Coming to Sunderland, a point is not a bad result, but after 30 minutes, I was feeling ‘we’re alright here, we should get a result,’” said David Moyes to BBC Sport.
Given Franculino’s strong start to the season and his previous links to Everton, rekindling discussions for his transfer is a logical move. The club is expected to officially give the green light for renewed talks ahead of the winter window.
Everton are evaluating a fresh bid for Franculino after Moyes’ remarks highlighted their continued goal-scoring troubles and need for a reliable striker this winter.
