On November 4, 2025, the federal government presented the 2025 budget titled “Canada Strong.” While the focus is largely on economic spending, infrastructure, and housing, the budget also introduces important measures affecting employers, pension plan administrators, and human resources professionals.
The budget includes a range of initiatives that will impact employment and pension plan management. Among them is an extension of the operational service early retirement program targeted at specific frontline employee groups.
The government has not yet released the corresponding Budget Bill. A detailed overview of employment, labour, pension, and benefits-related measures will be provided once it is available.
