Tiffany Haddish revealed new information about the highly anticipated sequel to the hit film Girls Trip in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly.
The actress, 45, shared that a recent meeting confirmed plans to start shooting the sequel, likely in 2026. "They were saying we [are] gonna start shooting probably next year," Haddish said. She indicated filming could begin in the spring, aiming to finish before summer.
“She ready,” Haddish said, using her signature phrase, and added, “I think it’s gonna be great. I think it’s going to be so much fun. Me and the girls were all talking. It was so funny, it was so good.”
Haddish starred alongside Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Queen Latifah in the 2017 comedy. The film follows four friends reconnecting during a trip to New Orleans to attend the Essence Music Festival. The movie was a turning point for Haddish’s career, propelling her to stardom.
Earlier this year, producer Will Packer confirmed the sequel was underway during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. He mentioned an exotic new location for the film and revealed that a script was ready for the first time.
“We actually are looking at doing an exotic locale — I can’t reveal it right now, but I do have a script for the first time,” Packer said. “And we’re going to add maybe some new ladies.”
The sequel promises to bring the original cast back together with the potential addition of new characters and settings.
