The European Youth Centre in Strasbourg, a hub for thousands of young Europeans attending meetings, courses, and study sessions each year, has opened a new collaborative space called the Malta Lounge. This area is designed to foster creativity and cooperation among youth from across the continent.
The Malta Lounge was refurbished with support from Malta’s Presidency of the Committee of Ministers. It aims to be welcoming and inclusive to inspire young people in their activities. The official inauguration was led by the President of Malta, Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono, alongside Council of Europe Deputy Secretary General Bjørn Berge.
“When a space such as the Malta Lounge is created with the intention to imbue shared trust and shared respect, it signals the starting point of a chain reaction of ongoing waves of cooperative discussions, creating innovative solutions to problem situations.”
President Spiteri Debono hopes the Malta Lounge will become a lasting symbol of Malta’s Presidency, serving as a place where democracy is actively practiced and continuously revitalized.
The European Youth Centre continues to lead in democratic innovation among Europe’s youth by providing spaces like the Malta Lounge that encourage dialogue and participation.
The Malta Lounge represents a dedicated, inclusive space for young Europeans to engage in dialogue, fostering democratic values and collaborative solutions under Malta’s leadership.
