According to recent consumer polling by NTF, 94% of Americans plan to celebrate Thanksgiving this year. This highlights how gratitude, family, and good food remain essential themes of the holiday season.
Turkey as the Holiday Staple
NTF estimates that nearly 30 million turkeys will be enjoyed nationwide during Thanksgiving. Maintaining classic traditions, 87% of celebrants say turkey is part of their holiday meal most years, and 74% intend to serve a whole bird.
Gathering Sizes and Hosting Trends
- Most Thanksgiving gatherings include between three and ten guests (71%).
- About 59% of people plan to host the celebration at home.

Turkey Preparation Styles
Traditional cooking methods prevail, with 65% of Americans roasting their turkey in the oven. Other popular preparation styles include:
