Gary Lineker disagreed with Gary Neville’s critical remarks by offering strong praise for Manchester United’s young forward Benjamin Sesko, describing him as a promising talent with untapped potential.
Despite Manchester United earning only one point in their match against relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest, Lineker spoke positively about the team’s attacking play. Manager Ruben Amorim kept faith in the same lineup that triumphed 4–2 over Brighton and Hove Albion the previous week.
United hoped to secure their fourth consecutive victory after Casemiro’s 34th-minute opener from a disputed corner. Nottingham Forest protested, insisting the ball had not completely gone out of play before the corner was taken. Nevertheless, the goal stood.
Forest quickly responded as Morgan Gibbs-White equalized 14 minutes later, and Nicolò Savona put the hosts ahead shortly after halftime. United fought back late in the game, with Amad scoring a stunning volley from the edge of the box in the 81st minute to level the match.
When referee Darren England signaled full-time, both teams shared the points. Although none of United’s new attacking signings found the net, Lineker highlighted their effort and potential.
“Sesko shows clear signs of growth and confidence. Manchester United have a forward with real promise,” Lineker said on The Rest Is Football podcast.
Lineker countered Neville’s criticism of Manchester United’s attack, praising Benjamin Sesko’s progress and leadership in a spirited draw with Nottingham Forest.
