A video circulating online claims to depict the NEOM Stadium, part of the Saudi Arabian megaproject NEOM, positioned atop a skyscraper. However, these AI-generated images do not represent the official stadium design.
The striking stadium visuals have spread widely on social media since late October. Users assert the images show the stadium planned for The Line, a futuristic city within the NEOM project in Saudi Arabia.
The post gained significant attention on X on October 26, shared by Rwandan user Edwin Musoni, whose video quickly reached 3.5 million views. Musoni described the stadium as being located 1,150 feet (350 metres) above the ground.
While a stadium is indeed planned for The Line, the viral images are artificially created and not official renderings. A review of NEOM's official social media channels on X and Instagram revealed no evidence of a stadium suspended that high.
Official NEOM posts from December last year do include the NEOM Stadium, which is intended to be built 350 metres above ground level, but not suspended atop a skyscraper.
"Musoni claimed the venue will be situated 1,150 feet (350 metres) above ground level."
"Checking the official NEOM project accounts on X and Instagram, we found no trace of this video clip or images showing a stadium suspended at that height."
Author’s summary: Viral AI-generated images falsely claim to depict the NEOM Stadium perched atop a skyscraper; official plans confirm the stadium will be built 350 metres above ground, but not suspended.
