Shohei Ohtani could start Game 7 of the World Series on Saturday, according to Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. The Dodgers advanced to the decisive game by defeating the Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 in a tense Game 6.
Roberts confirmed that all players will be available except for Yoshinobu Yamamoto. While the Toronto Blue Jays are expected to start Max Scherzer, a three-time Cy Young Award winner and former Dodger, the Dodgers' pitching strategy is still uncertain but will involve Ohtani.
Roberts said he is open to various roles for Ohtani in Game 7, including using him as an opener or placing him in the outfield.
“I think right now, there’s no wrong answer. He’s certainly going to be a part of the pitching plan. With Shohei it could be two innings, but it could be four innings. So I’m not sure where we’re going to slot him. We’re going to have to talk to him first on where he feels most comfortable.”
“Everyone will be available,” Roberts said.
