BEST Announces New Bus Routes and Service Changes Effective November 1
The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking has introduced significant changes and improvements to its bus services starting November 1. These changes include new routes, route rationalizations, cancellations of certain segments, and the conversion of several routes to air-conditioned buses, all aimed at enhancing passenger convenience and operational efficiency.
New Bus Route A-101
The newly launched route A-101 runs between the World Trade Center and [translate:Чхатрапати Шиваджи Махарадж Терминус]. This route connects important city locations such as G D Somani Road, President Hotel, Colaba, [translate:Хутатма Раджгуру Чоук], and Madame Cama Road. The service operates six days a week, Monday through Saturday. The return journey passes through [translate:Хутатма Чоук], Veer Nariman Road, Churchgate, and other key landmarks in south Mumbai, aimed at improving connectivity in that region.
Restructured Existing Routes
- Route A-1, running between Electric House and Colaba Depot, now terminates at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and operates only between CSMT and Santacruz Depot.
- Route A-6 serves the corridor between Backbay Depot and Tata Power Station with updated timings and paths.
- Routes A-44, A-47, A-48, and A-49 have been modified with shorter route distances or changed terminals to streamline the network.
Comfort Upgrades
BEST is upgrading several routes to air-conditioned buses to enhance passenger comfort during travel.
BEST officials stated that these initiatives aim to offer improved commuter convenience while increasing operational efficiency.
