Anchorage School District Cancels Morning Bus Service on Hillside Roads

Because of dangerous black ice conditions, the Anchorage School District suspended Thursday morning bus service on several hillside routes, including Upper O’Malley, Clarks, Upper DeArmoun, Birch, and Upper Rabbit Creek roads.

The decision was announced in an email sent to district families, explaining that buses would not travel to these five hillside areas for the morning pickup. Bus operations were planned to resume as usual later in the day for afternoon routes.

“Any students who didn’t have another way to get to school will be excused for the day,” the district stated.

The district reminded families that its email notifications are issued only once daily and only when there are new updates.

Summary

The Anchorage School District suspended morning bus service on five icy hillside routes Thursday, excusing affected students and planning normal bus runs for the afternoon.
