A unique reproduction Spitfire will serve as a powerful symbol of courage and sacrifice, honoring those who have served in past and present conflicts this Remembrance Sunday.
The only hand-built, full-size reproduction Spitfire MK IX aircraft will be exhibited in Millennium Place, Durham City, on Sunday, 9 November, from 9:00am to 2:00pm.
Marking 80 years since the end of the Second World War and 85 years since the Battle of Britain, Armed Forces Champion Cllr Andrew Harrison wanted to create a meaningful tribute for Remembrance Day. With the support of Squadron Leader (Retired) James A Cowan MBE and Simply Spitfire, the reproduction aircraft has been secured as a fitting memorial.
The Spitfire will be displayed along the route of Durham City's annual Remembrance Parade, held between 10:00am and noon on the same day.
