Devils Tie Late in 3rd, Win in Overtime

Jesper Bratt scored the game-winning goal 1:33 into overtime to lead the New Jersey Devils to a 4-3 victory over the Montreal Canadiens at Prudential Center on Thursday. Bratt also contributed an assist, while Jack Hughes added two assists.

The Devils improved their home record to a perfect 6-0-0 and became the first team to reach 10 wins this season with a 10-4-0 overall record. Goalie Jacob Markstrom made 16 saves during the game.

"I just tried to read the goalie's movement and felt like I came in with a lot of speed," said Bratt. "I felt pretty comfortable in that situation to try to make him believe I'd do one thing, and just try to read what the goalie was doing."

Forward Timo Meier scored with 1:07 left in the third period to tie the game for New Jersey. Meier reflected on the team's progress:

"It's nice to get 10 wins, but we want to keep building our game. We know what we're trying to accomplish on a daily basis to get better and push each other. This game was a good game to learn from."

Canadiens' Efforts in the Match

Noah Dobson recorded two assists, and rookie goaltender Jakub Dobes made 24 saves for Montreal. The Canadiens entered the game with a 9-3-2 record and had won all five of their overtime games this season.

Dobes had an impressive start to the season, winning his first six starts with a 1.97 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage. However, after this defeat, the 24-year-old goalie showed emotion in his postgame comments, taking responsibility for the loss.
