Seven Poaches AFL Reporter Tom Morris

After two years with Nine, chief AFL reporter Tom Morris has joined Seven, where he will cover both football and cricket. The Herald Sun reported that Morris informed Nine of his decision on Friday morning.

The move came after Seven’s head of sport Chris Jones and SEN boss Craig Hutchison offered a lucrative deal. It’s believed that Morris’s passion for both AFL and cricket played a significant role in the decision, as Seven broadcasts both sports.

The switch follows a broader trend in the past 18 months, with several prominent figures such as Kane Cornes, Caroline Wilson, and Craig Hutchison moving from Nine to Seven.

Morris’s current contract with Nine officially expires on December 31.

“I will turn him off when Tom Morris appears on screen. I don’t think he is a very nice person given that he had a history of controversies.”
“7’s AFL commentary team are getting worse every year. He is the worst AFL journo out there. Their team is getting worse, not better.”
“I would love to find out what percentage of ex-Nine staff is now on Seven’s payroll. It’s all very incestuous.”
