Channel 9’s chief footy reporter, Tom Morris, has made a surprising switch to rival network Channel 7. The 34-year-old informed Channel 9 on Friday morning that he accepted a lucrative offer from Channel 7, according to Code Sports.
Seven’s head of sport, Chris Jones, and SEN boss Craig Hutchison are credited with orchestrating the successful recruitment of Morris. This move strengthens Channel 7’s line-up of top football talent.
Morris is not expected to take on a leading on-air role since Mitch Cleary remains Channel 7’s chief footy reporter. Nevertheless, along with recently poached Xander McGuire and Cleary, Morris will be part of a strong reporting team.
"The successful poaching attempt will see Morris join an already stacked roster of top footy talent."
