Livinia Nixon Announces Her Departure from 9News Melbourne

After two decades as a beloved weather presenter, Livinia Nixon has announced that she will step down from her role at 9News Melbourne. Her final broadcast is scheduled for Tuesday, November 18.

Nixon, who joined the Nine Network in 1997 and took over the 9News Melbourne weather desk in 2004, explained that her decision was driven by family priorities, as her two sons are entering high school.

“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them.”

She expressed gratitude to her viewers and colleagues for their support over the years.

“It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”

Though leaving her nightly weather role, Nixon will continue her involvement with Nine’s popular travel shows Getaway and Postcards.

“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me.”

She also shared how her family reacted to the news.

“When I discussed it with our boys, they said, ‘We’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’”

Continuing Her Journey with Nine Network

Despite leaving the weather desk, Nixon emphasized her enthusiasm about remaining part of the Nine Network family through her ongoing travel and lifestyle television projects.
