Two experienced Socceroos players return for upcoming friendlies against Venezuela and Colombia, while a promising teenager earns his first senior call-up.
James Overy, a 17-year-old from Manchester United, has been named to the senior Socceroos squad for the first time. Veteran players Jackson Irvine and Riley McGree also return following their injury recoveries.
Overy, turning 18 this weekend, impressed at the U20 World Cup and recently signed his first professional contract with Manchester United. Originally playing under-19s for Scotland, he has now committed to Australia.
Socceroos coach Tony Popovic said he would "cast his selection net wide," influenced also by injuries to Alessandro Circati, Jordy Bos, Jacob Italiano, and Aziz Behich.
Irvine and McGree are returning from foot injuries, while Adelaide United captain Craig Goodwin has also rejoined the squad as the sole A-League Men player selected.
This squad combines youth and experience, with key players returning from injury and a Manchester United teen making his debut, showcasing the growing depth of Australian soccer talent.
