Elder Gérald Caussé became the newest member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Thursday, November 6, 2025. He was ordained the same day by President Dallin H. Oaks, along with the First Presidency and other Apostles.
“I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ,” Elder Caussé said. “He’s always been in the center of my life. And I know He’s our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness of Christ. That’s the best responsibility or stewardship we might have in our lives.”
Apostles serve as special witnesses of Jesus Christ worldwide and hold key administrative roles, managing the growth and operations of the global Church. The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles is the second-highest governing body in the Church.
At 62 years old, Elder Caussé hails from Bordeaux, France. Before this call, he had served 11 years as the Church’s Presiding Bishop. He is the third Presiding Bishop born outside the United States and the first whose native language is not English.
