Fans are sharing first impressions of the enhanced Xbox Cloud Gaming experience. Videos reveal that demanding open-world games like The Witcher 3 run smoothly at 1440p resolution with 60 frames per second.
The upgraded service is available only to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, offering performance similar to higher-tier GeForce Now plans. While Microsoft has faced criticism for Xbox Game Pass price hikes, improved streaming quality could encourage gamers to maintain their subscriptions.
With the Xbox Cloud Gaming beta completed, certain titles now support enhanced resolution and frame rates. Jez Corden of Windows Central highlighted how this upgrade may position Xbox Cloud Gaming as a strong alternative to Nvidia’s GeForce Now.
In a Windows Central video, Jez Corden tested Xbox Cloud Gaming on the ROG Xbox Ally handheld device. He noted:
“The Witcher 3 impressed at 2560 x 1440 resolution, while maintaining a steady 60 frames per second. It was a night and day difference from previous streaming sessions, with latency being hard to detect.”
However, only a limited number of games currently utilize this higher performance streaming.
The upgraded Xbox Cloud Gaming delivers much smoother 1440p/60fps streaming for Ultimate subscribers, challenging competitors despite limited title support.
