On 3 November 2025, governments, civil society, and international partners gathered in Doha to focus on tangible strategies that address urgent global challenges such as hunger, poverty, inequality, and climate-related instability.
The meetings were held during the Doha Solutions Forum for Social Development and the inaugural leadership session of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, coinciding with the Second World Summit for Social Development.
Opening the forum, UN General Assembly President Annalena Baerbock emphasized that the gathering represented a move from discussion to tangible progress.
“Too often we face situations where we have no clear solution, no answer to the suffering we see, and it is heartbreaking,” she said. “Or we have the solution but are either unable or unwilling to do what needs to be done, which is frustrating.”
“Today is different: we are here to avoid falling into those traps, to learn from each other, benefit from good ideas, join forces, and live up to our common principles.”
Speakers underscored that translating commitments into collective and practical steps is essential for lasting social development and global stability.
