The legendary hard rock band AC/DC is set to perform at Edmonton's Commonwealth Stadium on August 9, marking their first show at the open-air venue since 2015. The return adds to what can now be called Edmonton’s year of rock, with major acts like Rush and Foo Fighters having already performed.
The concert is part of the band’s Power Up world tour, named after their latest studio album. Formed in Sydney in 1973, AC/DC continues to thrill fans with their high-voltage sound and iconic stage presence.
The group’s current lineup features guitarist Angus Young and vocalist Brian Johnson, who joined AC/DC in 1980 after the death of Bon Scott. Johnson’s debut led to the release of Back in Black, one of the best-selling albums in history, contributing to over 200 million total record sales worldwide.
Tickets for the Edmonton concert go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through the official AC/DC website. The band will head to Vancouver next on August 13, with the possibility of adding more shows depending on demand.
