Lorraine Kelly addresses ‘very sad’ changes to ITV show

Lorraine Kelly addresses major ITV show changes

Television host Lorraine Kelly has spoken about the significant restructuring of her ITV daytime show, describing the adjustments as “seismic.” The network confirmed that the changes come as part of wider cost-cutting measures.

Show to run on a seasonal format

Under the new schedule, Lorraine will air on a seasonal basis. The 9am–10am slot will be occupied by Good Morning Britain for 22 weeks each year, while Lorraine Kelly will return for the remaining 30 weeks, including Fridays – a day previously hosted by Ranvir Singh and Christine Lampard. Their regular hosting roles will end as a result.

Reduced airtime

The duration of the program has also been halved. Beginning next year, it will air from 9:30am to 10am, meaning it will run for just 30 minutes per day instead of one hour.

Lorraine Kelly reacts to changes

“I was disappointed, of course I was. This is the world that we live in now. Things have to change, I mean, I’ve been through so many regime changes in my life.”

“For me, this is just another one, but it’s seismic. The thing that has upset me the most is the fact that we’ve got this great team, and obviously, that’s not going to be in place next year because jobs will go. Hopefully I’ll be able to hang on to some of these amazing people – that’s my aim.”

Background

Lorraine shared these reflections during her recent appearance on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs with Lauren Laverne. The conversation offered a rare, candid look into her feelings about the challenges facing long-running television formats.

Author’s Summary
