First Snowfall Expected in Southern Ontario

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement warning that Hamilton, Burlington, Brantford, and nearby areas could experience their first snowfall of the season this Sunday. Snowfall is expected to begin Sunday morning and continue into the evening, with snowfall totals ranging from two to ten centimetres.

Winter Weather Outlook

Meteorologist Trudy Kidd from Environment Canada explained that this snow event will mark the initial wave of winter weather for much of southern Ontario. The snowfall is linked to a low-pressure system that could bring significant accumulation in certain locations.

"A low pressure system could bring significant snowfall to parts of southern Ontario on Sunday."

Despite this, there is still low confidence regarding the strength and precise location of the snowfall. Snow accumulation amounts remain subject to change as the system develops.

Travel Advisory

The weather agency cautioned motorists to anticipate difficult driving conditions due to winter weather and to adjust travel plans accordingly. Delays in transportation may occur as a result of poor road conditions.

"Motorists should expect difficult winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays."

Residents are also reminded to install winter tires ahead of the expected snowfall to enhance safety on the roads.
