The Punjab government has rolled out its e-challan system in Faisalabad, equipped with over 1,400 smart surveillance cameras to strengthen automated and transparent traffic enforcement throughout the city. This marks another significant step in the province’s digital transformation of traffic management.
Following successful operations in Lahore and Rawalpindi, the PSCA continues to digitize traffic monitoring and enforcement. The system uses real-time video feeds and vehicle registration data to detect and record violations automatically.
The Excise and Taxation Department has fully integrated Faisalabad’s vehicle registration database with the Safe City digital network. This linkage enables instant issuance of e-challans for offenses like red-light jumping, driving on the wrong side, and riding without helmets.
“The e-challan system ensures fair and transparent traffic enforcement while promoting responsible driving behavior,” said a PSCA spokesperson.
More than 1,400 cameras installed across Faisalabad capture traffic violations and transmit the footage to the PSCA control center. The challans are then dispatched directly to violators’ registered home addresses, reducing human involvement and minimizing the risk of corruption or clerical mistakes.
The e-challan expansion in Faisalabad demonstrates Punjab’s dedication to digital governance, emphasizing transparent, technology-based traffic law enforcement and improved road safety.
