The Saginaw Spirit fell 6-2 to the Brantford Bulldogs at the Dow Event Center on Sunday night.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring early when Layne Gallacher sent Zack Sandhu’s rebound past Saginaw’s goaltender Stepan Shurygin, assisted by Ben Danford, giving Brantford a 1-0 lead just 1:40 into the first period.
Adam Benak then scored on the power play, beating Shurygin low on the blocker side, with assists from Jake O’Brien and Adam Jiricek, extending the lead to 2-0 at 7:39 of the first.
Saginaw’s Klepov responded with a backhand goal in the slot at 4:42, assisted by Egor Barabanov and Graydon Jones, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

The Bulldogs’ power play struck again after a pass from Caleb Malhotra bounced in off a Spirit defender.
The Bulldogs continued to dominate, ultimately winning 6-2.
