Brian Chari, currently out of favour in Zimbabwe cricket, was run out while celebrating his fifty during a 2025-26 Logan Cup match between Tuskers and Mega Market Mountaineers in Bulawayo.
On the penultimate ball of the 52nd over in the first innings, Chari paddle-swept off-spinner Definate Mawadzi for a single to reach his fifty. After taking the run, he casually strolled back into his crease and tapped his bat on the ground in celebration.
He then raised his bat and started walking absent-mindedly, likely to talk to non-striker Tafara Mupariwa. Meanwhile, a throw from Timycen Maruma came in from the deep, and wicketkeeper Joylord Gumbie removed the bails to run Chari out.
When the throw reached his end, Chari tried to return to his crease but was too late.
Chari was dismissed for 51 runs off 80 balls, hitting six fours and one six. Tafara Mupariwa scored 81 off 169 balls, with Tuskers reaching 182 runs at the fall of the fourth wicket.

Brian Chari’s run-out incident reminds cricket fans of the importance of focus and awareness on the field, even in moments of celebration.
