St. Mary’s College centre Mick O’Gara strengthened his position as the leading scorer in the Energia All-Ireland League Men’s Division 1A after a stellar 17-point performance in their thrilling victory over Cork Constitution on Saturday.
O’Gara’s accuracy from the tee at Templeville Road remained faultless, delivering 12 points from five consecutive kicks and adding an early try in the fifth minute to put his team ahead. With Mary’s still unbeaten and set to face Terenure College in next week’s local derby, O’Gara leads the chart with 66 points.
Leinster’s Charlie Tector emerged as the highest individual scorer in round 5, producing 22 points as Lansdowne secured a commanding 62–17 win over Nenagh Ormond. Tector scored a try at the hour mark, successfully converted seven of nine attempts, and added a penalty.
Just a week after his Leinster senior debut, Hugo McLaughlin claimed a hat-trick of tries for Lansdowne, while at Ballymacarn Park, Chris Cosgrave also notched three tries to drive Terenure’s dominant 52–12 second-half triumph over Ballynahinch.
“O’Gara’s precise kicking and early try reaffirmed his top form as Mary’s continued their unbeaten streak.”
