Salman Khan gets summoned by a consumer court, faces legal trouble over a misleading pan masala ad

Salman Khan Summoned by Consumer Court Over Pan Masala Advertisement

Bollywood actor Salman Khan has been issued a legal notice for promoting a mouth freshener advertisement alleged to mislead consumers. The issue stems from a campaign for a pan masala brand that reportedly used surrogate advertising to promote a banned product.

BJP leader and Rajasthan High Court advocate Inder Mohan Singh Honey filed a complaint in the Kota Consumer Court against Khan and the manufacturers of the brand, alleging that the advertisement deceives the public. Following this complaint, the court has issued notices to both Salman Khan and the company, requesting formal responses. The next hearing is set for November 27.

“Salman Khan is a role model for many people. We have filed a complaint in the Kota Consumer Court, and notices have been issued for a hearing. Celebrities or film stars in other countries don’t even promote cold drinks, but they are promoting tobacco and pan masala. I urge them not to spread the wrong message to the youth, as pan masala is one of the leading causes of mouth cancer.”

Complaint and Demands

Inder Mohan demanded an immediate ban on all advertisements featuring Salman Khan for the Rajshree Pan Masala brand, claiming the ads mislead consumers by downplaying the health risks associated with such products.

Author’s Summary: Salman Khan faces legal scrutiny over allegedly deceptive pan masala ads after a complaint asserting they mislead consumers and influence youth negatively.
