Brisbane Roar forward Justin Vidic insists he has nothing to prove when facing his old club Newcastle Jets this Sunday, yet he remains confident about demonstrating his quality. The young striker was released by Newcastle after a modest record of one goal in 13 A-League appearances, twelve of which came off the bench.
Following his departure and with new coach Mark Milligan reshaping the Jets' lineup, the 21-year-old seized the opportunity to trial with Brisbane. His dedication earned him a two-year contract with the Roar, fitting well into coach Michael Valkanis’s practical and physically robust style of play.
“These things happen for a reason,” said Vidic before the upcoming clash at Sunshine Coast Stadium. “I’m sure I’ll show my quality. I don’t think I have anything to prove to them. They know what I’m capable of, and there are people at the club I’m still close to. They know my potential and I want to show them that on Sunday.”
Vidic has made significant progress at Brisbane, starting in two of the club's three matches so far this season. He also netted his first goal for the Roar during their 2–1 defeat to Wellington last month.
Justin Vidic aims to showcase his growth and determination with Brisbane Roar as he prepares to face his former team, Newcastle Jets, driven by confidence rather than revenge.
