The American Hockey League (AHL) regular season has begun. While the Utah Mammoth started strong with a seven-game winning streak, their minor league affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners, experienced a mixed start. In October, the Roadrunners recorded 3 wins, 4 losses, and 1 overtime loss.
The team played six of their eight October games at home in the Tucson Convention Center and currently ranks fifth in the Pacific Division.
Last season, the team struggled offensively at times; however, this season's offense has been stronger thanks to several new players. At the midpoint of their six-game homestand, six players were scoring at or above a point per game. Although production dipped slightly by the month's end, the offense remained impressive considering six new players joined who had not previously played for the Roadrunners.
One of the biggest early-season stories has been Daniil But.
Author’s summary: The Tucson Roadrunners had a challenging but promising October, showing offensive improvement with new talent and holding steady in the Pacific Division amid a tough schedule.
