Tiger Woods is often hailed as the greatest golfer ever, but British golf legend Luke Donald believes Rory McIlroy surpasses him in raw talent. Donald, who has competed regularly against Woods since joining the PGA Tour in 2002, has a unique perspective on both players.
At 47, Donald witnessed Woods during his prime when the American secured 15 major championships, dominating the early 2000s golf scene. McIlroy, younger and turning pro in 2007, quickly made his mark as a former prodigy and a future star. He now works with Woods as a co-founder of Tomorrow’s Golf League (TGL).
"I've always said that of the guys I've played with out here on Tour, Rory has the most talent. He's young, he's got a great future ahead of him, and I see him winning lots of tournaments and lots of majors."
Donald expressed these views in 2011, before the DP World Tour Championship, highlighting McIlroy’s promising career trajectory compared to even the most successful golfers.
Luke Donald regards Rory McIlroy as the most naturally gifted golfer he has faced, valuing his potential and skill above that of Tiger Woods.
