For the first time outside their home race, Australian fans can listen to F1 commentary not provided by SkyF1 tonight. The F1TV coverage is now available in Australia, with Foxtel and Kayo streaming it alongside the established Sky Sports F1 broadcast that has served as the world feed since 2012.
The F1TV commentary is led by Alex Jacques, who has been the main commentator for F2 and F3 races over the past decade. He gained recognition for his passionate commentary, including Charles Leclerc’s 2024 Monaco Grand Prix win, often praised by fans on the Formula 1 YouTube channel.
Joining Jacques is former F1 driver Jolyon Palmer, who left Renault in 2017 and has since become an expert analyst for BBC radio and F1TV.
These presenters provide pre- and post-race analysis to complement the broadcast.
The alternative F1TV feed begins at 3:55 am AEDT, five minutes before the race start, and will be available for the remainder of the season, including events in Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi.
David Croft and Martin Brundle will continue their familiar commentary on Sky TV during the races.
"His passionate call of Charles Leclerc’s 2024 Monaco Grand Prix victory is often celebrated by fans."
Author's summary: Australian fans can now access alternative F1 commentary through F1TV, expanding options beyond Sky Sports for the 2024 season and beyond.
