BBC Radio 5 Live is introducing a new daily podcast titled Matt Chorley’s Urgent Questions, providing political analysis in the lead-up to this year’s Autumn Budget.
The podcast, starting 10 November, will feature 25-minute episodes combining interviews and key moments from Matt Chorley’s 5 Live show, which broadcasts Monday to Friday from 2pm to 4pm. It aims to deliver an engaging yet insightful perspective on Westminster and broader political topics.
Since its debut last September, the radio programme has hosted prominent figures such as Sir Keir Starmer, Boris Johnson, and Kemi Badenoch.
“I know that taking politics seriously doesn’t mean doing it boringly. Often it means doing politics without the politicians at all. The podcast will be packed with the best bits, the smartest bits, the funniest bits, and the bits that make you think ‘oh, so that’s why they do that’.”
Chorley also noted that while he won’t instruct listeners on what to think, he aims to help them understand how politics truly functions—or sometimes fails.
Summary: Matt Chorley’s new daily podcast offers accessible political insight with engaging highlights from his BBC Radio 5 Live show, aiming to make politics understandable and entertaining.
