Alex Scott has started the new season in exceptional form. The young midfielder has appeared in nearly every game for the Cherries, scoring once and playing a major role in their excellent early run. After his victory at the European Championships with England U21s this summer, his strong performances have brought him into contention for a spot in the senior national squad ahead of next year’s World Cup.
Scott’s progress was discussed on BBC Radio 5 Live, where Daily Echo reporter Alexander Smith joined presenter Steve Crossman and former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson to talk about the Cherries’ midfield.
“He’s made a brilliant start to the season. He’s been, I think, one of the side’s probably three best players this season, he’s really raised his levels this season.”
Smith added that Scott’s increased consistency has been vital, noting that he has already matched last season’s number of starts — nine this term compared to eight last year — and is making full use of his opportunities.
“He’s missed large chunks through injury. Certainly chatting to him he’s been frustrated at that but he certainly feels now that he’s playing some of his best football and getting a good run in the team.”
Smith also highlighted how the team’s recent win over Nottingham Forest, particularly outperforming Elliot Anderson, could boost Scott’s confidence even more.
Alex Scott’s strong early-season form, consistency, and recovery from past injuries have positioned him among the Cherries' standout performers and a potential England call-up contender.
