Winnipeg Jets at Anaheim Ducks

On Winnipeg Jets game days, hockey writers Mike McIntyre and Ken Wiebe provide updates from the morning skate, including news, injury reports, and lineup decisions shortly before puck drop.

Jets Prepare For Return to Action

After a disappointing 2-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Friday, the Jets faced consecutive defeats at the start of their six-game road trip. Head coach Scott Arniel used Saturday to meet individually with all healthy players in Anaheim to prepare for the upcoming game against the Ducks.

“To be straight up, I had one-on-ones with players,” Arniel said at the Honda Center. “Because we have a large number of new guys and we’re teaching them as we go, I never really got a chance since training camp to say ‘OK, this is now what I expect of you.’ And to review with our players that have been here last year, touching on the things I expect from them every night. Each guy knows their role, what I expect and what the coaches expect of them. So let’s go out and do it as a whole.”

Injury Update

An important update came during Sunday’s morning skate: Cole Perfetti, sidelined with an ankle injury, is expected to make his season debut after missing the first 14 games.

Summary: The Jets aim to rebound from early losses with focused coaching and key player returns, notably Cole Perfetti’s season debut after injury.
