Neighbours on a Sussex street have enjoyed a major win with the People’s Postcode Lottery, enabling a grandmother to plan a trip to see her son in the USA.
The People’s Postcode Lottery is a subscription lottery supporting charities while awarding cash prizes across the UK. From Monday to Friday, 20 different postcodes can win £1,000 each, and on Saturdays, players compete for a share of £1 million.
On Saturday, October 18, residents at the TN40 1LY postcode in the seaside town of Bexhill-on-Sea won the weekly Millionaire Street prize, with five houses each securing £200,000 per ticket.
"I'm shaking like a leaf! It means I can go and see my son again and his family - that means the world to me."
"In two words? I didn't think at my age I could be so excited about anything again. When you get to 80, you think you've seen everything and done everything."
"I imagined I’d maybe won £1,000, and I’d have been chuffed with that."
Barbara lives in a seaside apartment overlooking the English Channel and describes the win as life-changing.
