Pixar has revealed the first teaser for Toy Story 5, introducing a new tech-savvy toy and hinting at the franchise’s next major adventure. The film is scheduled for release next summer and will be Pixar's 31st feature.
The teaser features a smart tablet named Lilypad, voiced by Greta Lee, known for her roles in Past Lives and Tron: Ares. The tagline, “The age of toys is over,” suggests a conflict between nostalgia and modern technology as the classic toys face a new challenge to their world.
Toy Story 5 is co-directed by Andrew Stanton, known for Finding Nemo and Wall-E, alongside McKenna Harris, who makes her directorial debut after working on several Pixar projects. They describe the movie as having a “playfully antagonistic tone” that explores how beloved toys adapt to today’s tech-driven environment.
“Toy Story 5 continues the franchise that has earned more than $3.3 billion worldwide.”
This marks the first Toy Story film without John Lasseter, who left Pixar in 2018.
Toy Story 5 promises a fresh yet nostalgic adventure, highlighting the clash between beloved toys and evolving technology, while continuing Pixar’s cinematic legacy.
