The No. 12 Louisville Cardinals ended a four-year losing streak against the No. 9 Kentucky Wildcats with a hard-fought 96-88 victory. The win brought a long-awaited sense of relief to Card Nation.
Louisville jumped on the scoreboard early with Ryan Conwell making a free throw, followed by consecutive three-pointers that energized the team. A collaboration between Sananda Fru and Conwell extended the lead to double digits before the first media timeout.
The Cardinals’ offense was efficient from both beyond the arc and inside the paint. Fru and Aly Khalifa worked effectively in the paint, while Brown managed the offense with poise. Louisville went on a 15-2 run to seize full momentum.
Louisville led by as many as 20 points in the first half, commanding control of the game. Despite this, Kentucky fought back with strong defensive plays and turnovers late in the half. Drives by Otega Oweh and three-pointers from Collin Chandler reduced the deficit to single digits.
