Anthony Edwards made sure Ace Bailey knew the impact of his highlight play during Minnesota's 120-113 victory over the Utah Jazz on Monday.
Late in the game, Bailey drove baseline, jumped past Edwards, and completed a spectacular reverse dunk. After the game, Edwards jokingly asked Bailey if he had dunked on him.
“He asked if I dunked on him,” Bailey said with a smile. “I said, 'Was that you?' I didn't know. I just went up.”
This moment capped what was a memorable night for the 19-year-old wing, who started for Utah for the first time.
“I thought Ace did great,” Jazz coach Will Hardy said. “For the most part, he played within the system offensively, and his burst and athleticism are very evident, not just off the dribble, but cutting, crashing the glass. He gives us a really good lift.”
Bailey learned of his promotion to the starting lineup during Sunday’s practice and immediately sought to prepare himself.
Bailey’s dedication and athleticism made a positive impression in his debut as a starter.
Summary: Ace Bailey’s first start with the Jazz showcased his athleticism and eagerness to learn, earning praise from coach Will Hardy and marking a promising step in his NBA career.
