Southern Oregon rattles NCAA DII foe Chico State in road win | Rogue Valley Times

Southern Oregon women’s basketball held Chico State to its lowest point total at home in three years as the Raiders earned a 68-57 road win at Acker Gym. The victory improves SOU to 4-2.

Bridgette McIntyre led SOU with 20 points on 12 shots and nine rebounds, shooting 4-of-9 from three-point range. This marks at least four made threes in four straight outings.

Chico State, which won 24 games last season and was picked third in this year’s California Collegiate Athletic Association preseason poll, shot 37% from the field and trailed by 22 points after a 13-2 run by SOU early in the first quarter.

For the Raiders, the win extended a decade-long streak of success against NCAA Division II opponents, though this was their first victory against DII competition in eight seasons. They will host Cal Poly Pomona, the CCAA favorite, on Saturday.

Redshirt-freshman guard Taylee Clements sparked the effort with 3-of-6 shooting from three in her SOU debut. Freshman guard Sage Winslow added nine points in her first start.
