Khalila Mohammed, a former community health worker, testified Monday in the murder trial of Damian Hudson. She recounted her experience from July 2023, when she was employed at a safe injection site providing services for drug users. Mohammed described seeing Hudson on multiple occasions near the facility and interacting with him briefly.
According to Mohammed, Hudson appeared agitated on the day of the incident. She testified that he confronted another person outside the injection site and allegedly shouted, "Get out of the city!" before leaving the area. Moments later, she heard commotion and later learned someone had been fatally attacked nearby.
The case centers on the killing that occurred shortly after the confrontation described by witnesses. Prosecutors argue that Hudson acted with intent, while the defense suggests he was in a state of mental distress linked to substance use and environmental stressors. Mohammed’s statement aimed to clarify Hudson’s demeanor and actions before the event.
"He didn’t look well. He seemed nervous, pacing. Then he shouted and walked away," Mohammed told the court.
Other witnesses, including police investigators and community members, have provided supporting evidence. Surveillance footage and medical reports are being examined to determine Hudson’s movements and mental condition at the time.
