Two climbers have died after a fall on Aoraki/Mount Cook, New Zealand’s highest and most perilous mountain. Authorities reported that their bodies were discovered following an extensive search operation.
Two other climbers who were with them were successfully rescued without injuries.
The accident occurred during an ascent on one of the mountain’s challenging routes, an area known for unpredictable weather and hazardous terrain. Police and rescue teams launched a recovery mission once the alarm was raised.
“The bodies of two climbers have been found after they fell on Aoraki/Mount Cook. Two other climbers were rescued uninjured,” the official statement said.
