The Care Quality Commission (CQC) conducted an inspection of medical care services at Colchester Hospital in April, and the report has now been published.
According to Nick Hulme, chief executive of the trust, action has been taken to address the areas identified for improvement.
The trust has acknowledged and welcomed the feedback, with the hospital rated as "requires improvement".
The East Suffolk and north Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT), which runs the hospital, has launched a new fundamentals of care board, focusing on five key areas to address the CQC's recommendations.
The five steps taken by the hospital aim to improve the quality of care provided to patients.
