Lufthansa Technik Restores Vintage Lockheed Starliner
Lufthansa Technik engineers are completing a fully restored vintage Lockheed L-1649A Starliner for display in Frankfurt.
The project, planned for 18 years, will see the airliner displayed at a new Lufthansa Visitor’s Center in Frankfurt, to be completed in early 2026.
The Lockheed ‘Super Star’ joined the Lufthansa fleet in 1957 to serve points between Germany and the United States.
- The restoration is part of the Deutsche Lufthansa Berlin-Stiftung (DLBS) historic flight foundation's collection.
- The foundation's museum pieces include the former Lufthansa Junkers Ju-52 registered as D-AQUI.
