Family Argument Turns Deadly in West Phoenix
One man is dead and another is in custody after a family argument in west Phoenix turned deadly on Sunday night, authorities said.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, 31-year-old Brandon Alvarez was arrested for shooting and killing his stepfather, Jaunarius Moreno. Alvarez faces second-degree murder charges for the fatal shooting, police said.
- Officers responded to a home near 39th and Maryland avenues for reports of a shooting around 7:35 p.m.
- Alvarez called and told 911 operators he shot his 57-year-old stepfather.
- Moreno was found in the backyard suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Phoenix Fire Department.
No additional statements were made by authorities.
