The St Patricks Plains wind project in Tasmania has faced its fifth delay in awaiting a decision under the federal Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act.
The project, initially designed for 67 turbines, was scaled back to 50 and then to 47, with a current capacity of 291 megawatts (MW). It was deemed to require federal supervision under the EPBC Act in 2019.
A Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water spokesperson stated that the latest delay, with a new deadline of November 28, was requested by developer Ark Energy.
Ark Energy, which acquired the project in 2022, has been contacted for comment on the delay.
The project is proposed for a site in Tasmania's Central Highlands, south-east of Milena and 25km north of Bothwell.
No comment has been received from Ark Energy regarding the delay.
A new deadline for the decision has been set for November 28.
