A nor'easter brought heavy rains and gusty winds to the Tri-State area over the weekend and continued to affect communities on Monday.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency for New York City, Long Island, and Westchester County, while New Jersey also declared a state of emergency due to the storm.
According to the National Weather Service, the Tri-State area received between one to over two inches of rain, with wind gusts reaching up to 50 miles per hour in some locations.
As we go into [Monday night], we're gonna start to see the effects of this system begin to wind down as the storm moves out further into the Atlantic [Ocean],
said Meteorologist Dominic Ramunni, noting that coastal areas were most affected by the storm.
