Splinter Cell: Deathwatch Is A Sad Reminder That Ubisoft Has No Idea What To Do With Sam Fisher

Splinter Cell: Deathwatch Review

Ubisoft's iconic stealth-action franchise, Splinter Cell, has made its streaming debut with Splinter Cell: Deathwatch on Netflix.

Despite some fun moments and stellar animation, it doesn't live up to the Splinter Cell name, according to long-time fans.

A Departure from the Original Character

A scene in Splinter Cell: Deathwatch shows Sam Fisher casually walking in front of a security camera, which is out of character for the Sam Fisher of the early 2000s.

The Sam Fisher I know would never do something so careless, even if it was intentional.

Over the years, Ubisoft has pulled the character in different directions, diluting the original Sam Fisher.

Changes to the Character's Storyline

In 2006, Ubisoft killed Sam's daughter and sent him to prison, marking a significant change in the character's storyline.

Author's summary: Ubisoft's Splinter Cell series has lost its way with Sam Fisher's character.
