The Sonic Risks of PUP and Rico Nasty

The punk rockers and rapper break all the rules on their new albums.

The Canadian punk rockers PUP, whose name stands for Pathetic Use of Potential, have released their fifth studio album, Who Will Look After the Dogs? The album is about relationships, particularly the bad ones.

PUP has always been forthright about the themes of their albums, from The Dream Is Over to Morbid Stuff. The new album is no exception, with the first verse reading:

“Staring into the void now / You’re going down with the ship / You’re taking me with you / I don’t need to resist, it’s just what it is.”

Rico Nasty, a rapper, is also mentioned as a rule-breaker in the music scene.
